Looking After Your Home
If an Englishman’s home is his castle, an Englishwoman’s job seems to be cleaning it!
Housework can be a daunting task and like or loathe it, is something we all have to face on a regular basis. With a bit of planning and organisation, you can keep your house (or castle) in order and still find a bit of time for yourself.
Keeping your Home Clean & Clutter-free
The basic rule is simple. Find a place for everything and make sure it’s put there. If everyone in the family knows where things belong, they’ve got less excuse for not putting them away and you’ve got one less job to do.
The other rule is to create a bit of a routine. Set aside a little time each day to have a quick whizz round and put things straight - you’ll be surprised at how quickly you can make a visible difference.
Simplifying your Cleaning Routine
Paperwork is bad enough in the office; don’t let it take over your home as well. Create an inbox’ for all your bank statements, bills and letters and go through it on a regular basis. Also write any important dates or appointments down on a calendar - that way you won’t forget when the kids are on half term or the cat needs a booster.
Having all the necessary equipment at hand can also be a lifesaver. A quality vacuum, carpet cleaner and a selection of sprays and dusters will always help make light work of any chore. So keeping a good stock of products along with all the necessary tools will take much of the hassle out of your routine.
Above all make it easy on yourself. The simple truth is the more bits and pieces you have the more dust you’ll collect. Declutter. Give it away, sell it, shred it, recycle it or throw it - but don’t keep it unless you really, really want to.
