Remington

A name that many associate with men's shavers actually had its origins as gun makers in the early 1800s. Started by E. Remington & Son in the USA, the company was a highly successful manufacturer of firearms, before teaming up with inventor Christopher Sholes and branching out in 1886 to produce the world's first QWERTY typewriter - a keyboard layout that is still standard today.

From there they moved into office equipment with adding machines and filing cabinets and eventually computers (the foundations of Unisys). It wasn't until 1937 that they started making shavers and personal care products.
